The movie was the best-selling and most-rented title for the week.
The fast-paced action thriller Olympus Has Fallen, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, scored a rare triple play on the national home video charts for the week ending Aug. 18, topping both sales charts as well as the rental charts its first week in stores.
The film, about a disgraced former Secret Service agent who winds up rescuing the president from a terrorist attack on the White House, earned $98.9 million in theaters. It debuted at No. 1 on both the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert chart, which tracks overall disc sales, DVD and Blu-ray Disc combined, and Nielsen’s dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart – as well as Home Media Magazine’s video rental chart.
