Thought this movie was kind of lame, especially compared to the first one. Sure it explained a lot, but I'm thinking "ghost movies" just don't cut it for me much anymore because besides a couple cheap "jump scares", it was not scary at all.

XboxFun3873d ago

Part 2 was definitely not as good. I think part of the reason was the over explaining and plot of the film.

The first one was straight forward, ghosts and jump scares. The second one tried to add time travel and some sort of origin like back story.

Too much in my opinion for a movie like this.

Also with The Conjuring only released a few months back and still fresh on the mind you kind of get a sense of how James Wan works with his scare tactics. Kind of ruined it for this film.

It wasn't as good as the first, but I was pleasantly surprised by just how good it was. I liked the story and characters, so I didn't mind that it wasn't very scary. That's something I really like about James Wan's work... I usually like the characters enough that I don't mind if it isn't always scary.

Patrick Wilson was amazing in part 2 though.

I enjoyed the first one, hence I bet I will enjoy the second one. Whether or not the movie is any good as far as production goes? Well that's another question on its own.

I'm still too scared to see the first one.

most of the success of the sequel is because the first was good. i heard it was not as good as the first film thus if they will make a third film i bet that film would suffer of the shortcomings of the second. sooner or later this franchise would be like paranormal activity and saw.

Total Film | Planes Review

TF:

Disney takes flight with a Pixar-less spin-off.

With Cars and its sequel remaining Pixar’s least-loved films to date, the fact that the studio isn't even involved with this Disney spin-off should ring alarm bells.

Little ones will love the bright action scenes, but the lack of wit and humanity that makes exec producer John Lasseter’s best work so special will leave grown-ups feeling frustratingly grounded.
