Still bothers me that they never tried again to actually make a movie like the games. Still gotta like Dennis Hopper in the movie and that I know a couple of people who look like the Goombas.

I still watch the film and don't understand the beef with it. Is it the best movie ever? No. But it's not exactly like Mario had a stellar plot to ruin.

Man i remember how much I was disappointed when i watched that movie as a kid, maybe i should watch it again just for fun.

To me the cast was good though, the problem was the entire script and direction of the movie was a total mess. The movie makes no sense and it was creepy too.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the real problem with the movie is that it was based on a game that is completely incoherent from a narrative standpoint. It's about a couple of Italian plumbers who warp to a world populated by overgrown mushrooms and do battle with dinosaurs. How do you make that into a live action movie?
