I agree that it was unnecessary, but not nearly as the nude scene at the beginning of "Flight" was. Also, that underwear scene is nothing compared to how badly she actually acted in the film...BUT, I do have to say one thing, arent most nude scenes/underwear scenes unnecessary that are just added for flare?

He should be apologizing for bigger problems with the writing than this.

The director should take the blame for that. He had the last say when they were filming the scene.
