i have watched most of the aforementioned films based on books, i can say that those films really captured the essence of there original source material and is really a powerful movie like empire of the sun. the only film i didnt like was also children of men and a lot of my friends said it was cool and everything and i even tried to watch it 3 times for the sake of trying to like it but i really didnt in the end.
