The annual round of Hollywood self-congratulation is over for another year, after what has been perhaps the best Oscar ceremony in a good long while. A good host, worthy winners and a lack of overly long, pretentious acceptance speeches helped to prevent tedium creeping in too much.

compared to the previous oscars this year was more entertaining, seth macfarlane was a refreshing host, the musical performances was better. it was a better ceremony overall. even the movies qualified for best pictures were more competetive and unpredictable.
