The second season of the hit live-action web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy is prepping to begin airing February 17. Today, director Kevin Tancharoen released the following cast photo via Instagram that will hopefully whet fan appetites for the new episodes.
The first season of Mortal Kombat: Legacy was one of the most-viewed web series of 2011 with more than 60 million views to date on Machinima. In the second season, the saga continues as Liu Kang and Ermac join the ranks of fighters introduced in the first season of the web series including Kenshi, Kung Lao, Kuai Lang, Stryker, Kitana, Mileena, Johnny Cage, Scorpion and Sub Zero. This new season will uncover the rivalries and histories of these fierce warriors as Raiden and his recruits clash against the dark forces of Outworld.

yeah it just gives you some of the background on each character on how they came to be before they got into thier iconic idenity if that makes any sense
as far as i understand my self, i consider these prior events before the big story happens in this case a Mortal Kombat tournament
if you like i would suggest watching the 1995 mortal kombat movie to get the idea of it, its simple and doesnt take itself too seriosly
theres always wikipedia that has decent spot on background on to about any character you dont understand though it may not be the exact same thing transition onto screen for obvious reasons
i hope this in some way helps nobody likes a potiental fan lost like me lol
