The Assassins is a historical drama about a Chinese Chancellor named Cao Cao. He is said to be destined to kill Emperor Xian when the four stars are aligned. To prevent this from happening, the Emperor’s supporters gather the children of those killed by Cao Cao and train them so that they may one day assassinate him. One of these assassins is a girl name Lingju who poses as one of Cao Cao’s mistresses. The movie spends as much time with her as it does with Cao Cao.
