Guillermo Del Toro Says He Was Approached For 'Star Wars: Episode 7

Easily one of the biggest pieces of movie news that arrived in 2012 was the announcement that more "Star Wars" sequels were on the way. And heading into 2013, it's still on everyone's mind, even though "Star Wars: Episode 7" isn't due into theaters until 2015. What we know already is that Michael Arndt is writing the script, but the million dollar question remains: who is going to direct? Numerous big names -- J.J. Abrams, Steven Spielberg and more -- have taken themselves out of the race, and another who politely declined the gig was an early fan favorite: Guillermo Del Toro.

I think it would have been interesting to see what he could have done with Star Wars. But I am happy to see he won't. Because I think Disney would not allow him to make the film he wants to make. I do think if he did it though more people would finally see the great stuff he can do.

I myself though would have liked to see in an other universe what he could have done with the Hobbit over Star Wars. As for what he does in the future I hope something with DC Comics. I could see some of the Vertigo comics getting good films from him. I could see the world from Fables & Swamp Thing from him looking real nice.
