I heard the Chinese people hated this film as well, the novel was really scary and awesome, but then when the movies part 1 and part 2 were released, it turned into a joke and everyone thought it was some sort of sick comedy instead of being a scary/thriller movie, i believe the review has it right here by giving it the score he gave it.
