As a film Jack Reacher is not a complex story and is instead intended to dumb down crime dramas for a more bassist audience. Even if the twist at the end of the second act can be hard to follow the rest of the movie plays to the wider audience with simple language, simple motives and a fair amount of misogynism. Helen Rodin continually comes off as a witless daddy’s girl who isn’t able to assemble a defense for her client while Reacher solves the case, defeats the evil doers, saves Rodin from perilous danger, and prances around shirtless in his hotel room.
