Geek Binge: Releasing a spectacular movie in the middle of January can be one of the most conflicting experiences for the filmmaker, as has been the case with Joe Carnahan and his nail-biting “man against nature” movie from last January, “The Grey”. While the film wasn’t the most honestly marketed (Open Road brilliantly sold the film as a “Taken but with wolves!” adventure), The Grey still stands as one of the best movies I’ve seen all year by a long shot. Now despite the film’s release nearly ten months prior to Awards Season heavy hitters like Silver Linings Playbook and Argo, Joe Carnahan is reportedly prepping the film for a second (albeit small) theatrical release to remind people of the story of John Ottway facing off with the nightmares of a frozen tundra.
