‘Skyfall’s $669.2M Global Helps Sony Pictures Post Best Ever $4B Worldwide

DL: Sony Pictures today announced its biggest movie year ever at the global box office, passing $4 billion for the first time in the studio’s history. Thanks in large part to Skyfall becoming the biggest 007 film of all time (not adjusted for inflation, higher ticket prices, or IMAX premiums.) This weekend, the 23rd James Bond actioner grabbed a global cume of $669.2M and passed the $599.2M worldwide total taken in by Casino Royale in 2006.

It comes out here on Thursday. Going to see it friday. Cannot wait.

It's surprising to me too because they have so many blockbusters under their belt. I guess they just went all out this year with their known franchises, along with a few hidden gems making a surprise.
