As impressively fast-paced as this season of The Walking Dead is, it was understandable to have “Say the Word” be more of an aftermath episode, taking a step back after the huge events last week. But it was also pretty jam-packed in its own right, as The Governor revealed just how twisted he was.

As a fan of the comic book, I’m sure I’m not alone in being very happy to see some of The Governor’s most notable “greatest hits” brought into the TV series here, beginning with the confirmation that, yep, his little girl is now a zombie, who he keeps tied up. That scene between father and daughter was incredibly messed up, in an awesome way. From a piece of her scalp ripping out as he brushed her hair to him kissing his flesh-hungry little girl through a burlap sack he put over her head, this was some next level insanity. Seeing him show such mundane acts of love to her is very effective and unsettling and takes the zombie daughter idea from the comic books even further in some great ways. (The Walking Dead, TV) 8.5/10
