LargeMarge67 "Having just celebrated its 30th Anniversary, I thought it would be appropriate to show some love for John Carpenter’s The Thing. Loosely based on The Thing From Another World (1951) this film is one of those that I can watch over and over and never get tired of. Kurt Russell gives an outstanding performance as R.J. MacReady, the gruff helicopter pilot for an American research team in the Arctic. Although surrounded by scientists, it is the blue collar MacReady who figures out what makes the alien organism tick. And you have to love the fact that he had “ready” right there in his name!"

"The Thing" is a must watch for horror fans imo, and the 4K Blu-ray edition just made an already great movie even better.

I cannot argue I think this is the 5 best pure horror films in the 80's. The 80's is the golden age in horror genre as it has at least 10 iconic horror movies
