LargeMarge67 "Having just celebrated its 30th Anniversary, I thought it would be appropriate to show some love for John Carpenter’s The Thing. Loosely based on The Thing From Another World (1951) this film is one of those that I can watch over and over and never get tired of. Kurt Russell gives an outstanding performance as R.J. MacReady, the gruff helicopter pilot for an American research team in the Arctic. Although surrounded by scientists, it is the blue collar MacReady who figures out what makes the alien organism tick. And you have to love the fact that he had “ready” right there in his name!"

"I think it's safe to say that John Carpenter hit the big jackpot with his movie "The Thing", because it's with no doubt one of the best sci-fi horror movies that I've ever seen, and this is the reason why" - Robin Ek, TGG.
