Geek Binge: In the vein of Season Five picking up within minutes of the Season Four finale, the Season Seven premiere picked up almost exactly where it left off after last season’s killer cliff-hanger. Lucky for them. Suddenly skipping way ahead would have crushed fans and crippled their trust in the show. Fans had already been given a taste of the first exchange between Dexter and Deb in a trailer released over the summer. A lot of stammering, weak excuses, Dexter trying to change the subject, etc, but nothing that would allow Debra to accept what she saw and move on quietly. Debra Morgan may have a disastrous personal life, but she’s a damn fine detective—even if she is a Lieutenant now. (Dexter, TV) 8/10
