Six Directors Who Should Be Considered For The Batman Reboot

CBM

Another reboot of the Batman film franchise is all but inevitable, with the success of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. Hit the jump to check out my list of directors who I think should be considered by Warner Bros. for the Caped Crusader's next big screen outing.

Arronofsky is my #1 pick for the next Batman movie ou of this list. Ben Affleck is something of an interesting idea too though. He's really been coming out as a damn fine director in the last while.

Here is what I want....
... NOT a movie. NOT a 'reboot. NOT live-action.

Remember the quality of that stunning Arkham City trailer!? The CGI trailer with the cops on the rooftop in the rain!?

I want to see DC bring in some of their best writers, get the best CGI artists to get that same quality that that trailer showed, and produce a TV-show with 12 episodes of 50 minutes each, most of which will have stand-alone stories.

And it should be set in the time where Dick is already Nightwing, Jason is dead, and Tim is a very young 3rd Robin. Which I feel is the best era for Batman in his prime, and when it comes to the supporting cast (Think the 4th and 5th season of The Animated Batman series)

THAT would have the potential to be a timeless classic. That's certainly the only way I would love to see it being done.

Either that, or CGI movies.

Obviously, it will be intended for a mature audience. Just because it's CGI doesn't mean it has to be a 'cartoon' aimed solely at kids. It needs to be written smart and well, and aimed at a mature intelligent audience.

The benefit of this, is that you you can do much more, you can stick much closer to original stories, it can be done with a lower budget than the current 200+ million dollar budgets, you don't have a problem with aging actors as there are more movies coming out, etc etc etc.

I'm not saying that your idea is a bad one but for people like me who just haven't been able to keep up with the times in Comics and don't know much about who these characters are and how they got there. SO if they were to do something like that they'd need to start at the beginning and build it like that.

I'd like to see them move along a more darker "supernatural" style of stories. I want to see Mr.Freeze, Man-Bat and Killer Croc. As much as I love the dynamic between Batman and The Joker, I think they need to leave him out of the next series.

I say we let Batman rest for a decade. He has done his duty and brought balance to the chaos.

I say it is time to find a Kick Ass director for other DC characters that need justice.

Wonder Woman
Flash
Green Lantern
Animal Man
Swamp Thing

Just to clarify - My disagree with you is only in respect to the "let Batman rest for a decade" portion of your comment. I do agree that all those characters you mentioned are damn well due their time in the spotlight though.

On a side note I watched the Swamp Thing movie from the 80s the other day. Classic.

A Reboot of a reboot... Uhngg' my heads hurts!

To honest, I wouldn't mind a CGI batman movie. If can look as good or better than the Hugo Strange trailer in the latest Arkham batman game.

What about Zack Snyder (300, Sucker Punch) for a more stylished and comic-like Batman?

i strongly disagree with him for two reasons :

- all flash no substance
- He's already doing a superman , no need to have the same atmosphere and style for both franchises

Michael Fassbender, or Tom Hardy would be ideal. Maybe even Tom Hiddleston? Although i think he would make a great Joker instead.

Summons751784d ago

Fassbender would be interesting. Tom Hardy would be hilariously ironic but he's a good actor as well.

Lord_Sloth1784d ago

Oh my god Scott Adkins would be SO PERFECT!!!

New Batman Ben Affleck 'Inspired' by His Superhero Director Zack Snyder

USA Today

We're considering ourselves pretty lucky to be getting at least four movies with Ben Affleck as the newest cinematic Dark Knight. There's of course Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (out March 25), a small part to play in Suicide Squad Aug. 5, and a bigger one in two planned Justice League films.
