Very few filmmakers have the power to be granted final cut on a picture: you pretty much have to be at the top of the tree, or working on miniscule budgets, in order to be allowed to cut together the movie you want, notes be damned. As such, it's no surprise that Director's Cuts of movies have become popular over the past few decades, particularly after Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner: The Director's Cut" demonstrated the masterpiece lurking beneath the somewhat tarnished original.

I never really had my hopes up for this anyway. It's just not Nolan's style and he's pretty good about getting the cut he wants on the screen.
The movie was pretty long in the first place and very detailed anyway. I was very pleased with the outcome of this movie and loved it the way it was.
too bad, i was in high hopes when i heard that there are some few cuts about bane's origin story with him training and all but i guess the article is right that the dark knight rises is as good as it is without those extra scenes.
here's hoping for some lengthly deleted scenes :P
Well! if he's not going to extend the cut. Then the least he can do is give up gobs and gobs deleted scenes, with commentary.
