The Cold Light of Day (2012) - Popzara Movie Review

An exercise in spy thriller craft that really isn’t about anything; has no sense of style, no feeling that it was made with love and respect to the espionage genre.

The Blu-ray Breakdown: January 29, 2013

Nicholas of Movies Hate You Too writes:

Not sure why the release schedule dried up this week but it’s pretty slim pickings out there. The new release schedule fairs somewhat better than the catalog titles but that’s not saying a whole lot. Fans of the offbeat comedy In Bruges will be happy, as will fans fans of the biggest found footage franchise in the world. Adam Sandler’s newest comedic abortion arrives on Blu-ray in both two and three dimensions while the newest film from the new Superman arrives on Blu-ray much like it did in theaters… DOA. With regards to the catalog titles we see the release of Ridley Scott’s first film, an Ethan Hawke space adventure, and a shameless double dip of one of an action series classic.

The Cold Day Of Light Review | Player Affinity

Player Affinity:
The Cold Light of Day, or “The CLOD” (I’ll let you decide) is a hamstrung, nearly farcical wannabe-thriller that proceeds to insult its viewers with tepid action, leaps in logic and at more than one instance plot developments that border on incomprehensible. The world of The Cold Light of Day is inhabited by incompetent police, moronic villains and an everyman who rises to Jason Bourne status so quickly he would have made the entire Treadstone training program a moot entity.

The Daily Rotation - The Cold Light of Day Review

Jeremy of The Daily Rotation wrote, "Despite numerous efforts to bury this picture underneath a giant amount of garbage, Lionsgate/Summit ended up giving The Cold Light of Day a nationwide theatrical release without any real promotion. The film for all intents and purposes is just a tax write off; something they’ve tried to sweep under the rug and rightfully so, because it’s a complete snoozer, full of pointless motives and soap opera quality acting. Henry Cavill‘s performance makes you second-guess the decision to cast him as the upcoming Superman in Man of Steel and Bruce Willis reminds you that he’s just like all of the other money-hungry actors, begging for a paycheck."
