The Hunger Games Blu-ray Review - WGTC

Jeremy of We Got This Covered wrote, "Harry Potter is done and Twilight is coming to an end. There’s room for a new wave of teenage dramas and Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games was ripe for the picking. Director Gary Ross adapts the messy and unbalanced dystopian story to the best of his ability, but even his talents aren’t strong enough to off-set such a half thought out script that trades character progression for sappy romance that aims at the hearts of shallow romantics."

Got my special edition yesterday and watched it last night with my husband. It was really good and I believe it did have scenes that weren't in the theater version. I really can't wait for the next one.

@alycakes

yeah, wasnt aware of any special editions going on but i did buy the steelbook edition yesterday while on my way to see expendables 2

got to say though i can put two and two together from book to movie to know exactly what is going on now i understand its a 2 hour and 21 minute movie but during scenes i seem to keep recalling some stuff that wasnt in the movie lol

i realize i was visualising the book into greater detail when i read it then fused it with the movie in my mind, it helps when you have an actual placeholder image for your imagination of the book know what i mean?

alycakes4259d ago

Exactly...since i read the books last summer it was easier for me to picture things I guess that weren't actually being shown sometimes because I knew they existed and I did see a few things that weren't in the movie at the theater. I guess I got the same one you got. It was the box set with the Blu-ray/dvd/ and the special features in both and it had a really nice Hunger Games paper weight too.

DarkBlood4259d ago

it was from futureshop and i believe special features n digital copies that went with it are the same i just dont have the extra stuff you got with it that i looked on google not sure if you got pins or what appears to look like a number 12 T shirt with the number in silver all in a box with some box art and the movie

there was 2 steelbook editons though the flaming mocking jay (this one i own* on black background and the grey ish *whatever color it is* district 12 symbol but didnt see any of that one there but i wasnt going to pick that steelbook version anyways lol

excuse my lazy english sentences

The movie was great. In my opinion it's one of the best movies this yr and my favorite so far. I might have to say that the book is a lot better. I saw the movie first and then read the book which explained a lot to me. For example, in the movie i think they failed to express how katniss was using peeta in order for them to both survive. I thought she liked him but after reading the book the intentions weren't out of love. Secondly after watching the movie plenty of times i came to realize how some characters don't fit the one's in the book. Jennifer lawrence(Great actress) doesnt potray Katnis everdeen physicality from the book seeing how she is a grown woman portraying a teenage girl same goes for Gale. Hearing and seeying him call her katniss katnap seems foolish seeing how he's over 21.BTW the cave scene was weak when you compare it to the book. Those are just small things i didn't like from the film but overall I loved it.

I think when you read the books it just makes all the difference in the world. I couldn't put the book down and read all three one right after the other. You're right about the cave scene but when you do know all the details from the book you appreciate what's going on a little more.

A once over in the theater was good enough for me.

nix4259d ago

i agree with Kingpin (apart from the name calling). the movie was really bad. still dunno why people think it's great.

We just watched it today (rent) and it was awesome! We loved it, we went and reserved the book to read it AGAIN right after it ended and will be buying it (the movie) when we have money!

alycakes4259d ago

I sent my friend in Germany the first book for a Xmas gift and told him they were coming out with a movie and explained about the trilogy.

He just sent me a post card telling me he's almost finished with the 3rd book and really likes them.

Soldierone4259d ago

My GF was telling me "the book was so good!" then she loved the movie. Then I go online to talk about the movie (I always do it for things I like) and people were saying how the book basically explains everything the movie touched more in detail. So we reserved the book and I plan on reading at least book 2 by the time the movie releases lol
