Universal Pictures' Grim Night appears to have found a director in We Are the Night helmer Dennis Gansel. The studio confirmed that the German talent is in negotiations to helm the project, which features a script by Brandon Bestenheider and Allen Bey.

tells the story of one night out of the year in which everyone around the world locks themselves indoors and fights off "Grims," creatures known to wipe out thousands of people for inexplicable reasons. The film focuses on one American family and their terrifying ordeal with these supernatural entities.
