Seeking a Friend for the End of the World Review | Clickonline

Clickonline writes: "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World has been billed heavily as a comedy in the months up to release but its true genre isn’t so simple. It’s easy to understand why studio types would want to promote it that way, with Steve Carell front and centre and a series of preposterous and hysterical events but the film has one big issue standing in the way – namely a seventy-mile wide asteroid by the name of Matilda."

The LRA Show Ep. 82 - Zero Dark Thirty / Jack Reacher

LRA writes: T'was the night before Christmas and not a creature was stirring...except for those two crazy guys recording a podcast just 3 days before Christmas! Yes, we are down Brian this week but James and myself hold down the fort with plenty of news, reviews and general awesomeness to tide you over while waiting for old St. Nick to come tumbling down your chimney. We start out with some pretty interesting casting news for the next "Expendables" and who will carry the torch in the new franchise reboot of "Highlander". James gives an update on his recent "The Walking Dead" marathon and then I give a quick couple reviews on the impossible to find import from Europe "Womb" and in light of the world almost coming to an end I discuss the ins and outs of the Steve Carell comedy "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World". Then we move right on into our two main films that are certain to spread holiday cheer, the Tom Cruise murder investigation vehicle "Jack Reacher" and Kathryn Bigelow's documentation on the hunt for Osama Bin Laden "Zero Dark Thirty". Featured music this week is from www.freestockmusic.com and a holiday classic from the "Xmas Greatest Hits Collection".

Seeking A Friend For The End of The World Review | Examiner

Examiner writes: The premise of seeing a world that has accepted the fact that it is doomed is an interesting high concept. Too often we have seen countless nameless people holding their loved ones tight and close in anticipation of a daring mission's success or failure to prevent whatever nondescript thing is heading their way from arriving and killing everyone. The opening scene in "Seeking..." leaves no room for you to mistake this as anything other than a complete departure from that formula when we find Dodge (Steve Carell) and his wife (played by Carell's real life wife Nancy Carell) sitting in their car listening to a radio broadcast that has just announced the failure of the shuttle mission to prevent the asteroid from hitting Earth. Dodge's wife instinctually opens the car door and runs off into the night never to be seen again as Dodge sits there in disbelief that the world will end in just two weeks time.

Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World Home Release Review (PopBucket)

PopBucket writes: On the whole, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is a rom-com that’s heavy on the com. Although it has its share of troubles, these are mostly caused by its nature as a creative and ‘different’ film; it is, overall, an intelligent and funny production. It has its own comic take on the apocalypse which isn’t stunningly original, but is at least fresh and interesting. If you’re looking for family-friendly, genuinely funny viewing material then this one’s for you – a few faults, after all, are not the end of the world.
