Report Suggests Marvel Could Replace Chris Hemsworth With A Female Thor

CB

When Marvel Comics announced that the current Thor in the comic books was going to be replaced by a woman, one could probably have predicted that it would only be a matter of time before people begin speculating over what this meant for the Thor movies. And according to well-known Hollywood blogger Nikki Finke, it appears to be a very real possibility that Marvel Studios might go with a new female lead in upcoming Thor and Avengers movies.

They better not, this shitty move doesn't even make sense in the comic world

It's different if it's someone who was taking Thors place with their own name/identity but Thor being a woman...come on

I wish people would get it through their thick skulls that "Thor" isn't a title like Iron Man or Captain America, it's his actual name. It's not like Bucky tried to become Steve Rogers or Dick Grayson tried to become Bruce Wayne.

It's a move done for shock value that's all. We'll see Thor again in the future.

Crazay3562d ago

Of course we'll see the real Thor again. Just like we saw the REAL Spider-Man come back again and the Real Captain America and the way that Loki went back to being a man.

the only surprise I find is that mainstream news think this is news worthy, don't they remember how they covered the deaths of Superman and Capetian America as if they would last only for them to comeback.

Actually you may be wrong from what Marvel is saying it is not like Thor changed into a girl but he did something dishonorable so he lost his title and his weapon and it goes to someone else only hint is it is someone that the old Thor saved before the old Thor will be in the comics not sure what name he will go by but he will be using the same weapon he used before he got the hammer.

Deadpoolio3562d ago

The name Thor is NOT a title, his name is Thor....She isn't Thor, she has the powers of thor hell it's written on the damn hammer Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.

Joe9133562d ago

@ Deadpoolio I can only base my opinion off what the Marvel guy said and said she will be Thor but the other guy is still there but she is Thor idk how they are doing it not going to say I know everything but it sounds like a title lol

Actually its not surprising - the one thing that DC has that Marvel is lacking is an iconic female character. No other female superhero comes close to wonderwoman, this is in no doubt a movie to copy Wonderwoman. Both Thor and WW have origins rooted in ancient mythology - Norse and Greek respectively.

we see how everybody does their new contacts for marvel after Avengers 3... we might get some new actors later down the road we might see a female thor, but thats really only if its premanent in the marvel comics

What is it with feeling the need to gender/race/ sexuality-swap to create diversity in comics these days?

Try creating a NEW interesting female/black/gay character instead of messing with established characters.

Joe9133562d ago

I agree as a black man I rather see a brand new black/female super hero than to lose a superhero by making them black or female DC does this just fine for the most part.

Like most entertainment they can't do anything new.
