First Trailer for Disney’s Maleficent Starring Angelina Jolie

Collider

Disney has released the first trailer for Maleficent. Directed by Robert Stromberg, the film is a reimagining of the classic Sleeping Beauty story told from the villain’s point of view. Angelina Jolie plays Maleficent, a beautiful, pure-hearted young woman who becomes the protector of her village when an invading army threatens its harmony. Following a brutal betrayal, Maleficent becomes bent on revenge and her pure heart begins to turn to stone, paving the way for the story that plays out in Sleeping Beauty. We’ll have our thoughts on the trailer up shortly, but we wanted to make it available as quickly as possible.

Meh. I know it's a teaser trailer, but it gives us nothing about the film. Might as well have just released a bunch of images, because the trailer adding nothing to it. I'm concerned. Disney live action has been tanking lately and I wanted this trailer to blow me away.

Don't take this the wrong way or anything but this movie is the same story as the last just told from Mal's perspective. We've known the folktale for centuries and the movie for decades.

I'm looking forward to this.

Yup, me too, the evil laugh at the end was pretty good but overall I just like fantasy movies and this one has a high enough budget to be at the very least visually pleasing. I gauge the story line and acting over time as more is revealed though. Still definitely something I look forward to.

It's not much as a trailer or teaser. Photos would have given the same effect.
