Lucasfilm have released this very early promo for their new Star Wars series, Rebels. It’s rather modest but there’s more to come, apparently, at New York Comic Con this weekend.

I really want to know what goes on in these kinds of meetings. They just cancelled a perfectly good Star Wars cartoon... and now they're going to replace it with a... Star Wars cartoon?

EDIT: Why do Star Wars execs seem set on making everything in the original time line? The expanded universe has grown leaps and bounds, but it's almost as if all these people making decisions (gasp) don't have any clue of the intellectual property they seem intent to run into the ground.
