I think that might be a pretty good decision. I like the guy but I'm not overly familiar with the character in question.

calis3929d ago

Only reason I can think is that he seems too young for it.

Blacktric3929d ago (Edited 3929d ago )

Too young, too short. Levitt is around 1.75 while Strange is around 1.87. It's not a difference you can just ignore.

hazelamy3928d ago

yeah, all of Strange's power is kept in the top 12 centimetres of his head, that's why Levitt couldn't play him. o_O

and anyway, you can't have an actor play a character if he's not the right height, what would happen if they did.
they might have somebody playing Wolverine who is a whole foot taller than the comic version.
how awful would that be?

clearly Danny Devito is perfect for Wolverine.

^_^

Like Calis says, he is way too young, and I also feel like he is physically not very fitting to play the part, facial structure and everything, but maybe when he gets older, as of now. I don´t see him pulling off the role.

"they might have somebody playing Wolverine who is a whole foot taller than the comic version."

A difference in size matters a lot if you give a slight sh*t about the character. You can't choose an actor that does not have the typical traits of Strange and then expect to not cause a massive stir among the fans. Not to mention that this isn't some reimagining of an already existing movie. They can't have that much flexibility regarding casting. Actors that were suggested/rumored by fans like Cumberbatch, Mortensen and Jeffrey Dean Morgan either look the part as a whole, or carry at least one of the significant traits of Strange in terms of looks, which makes them perfect for the role.

Thanks for the reply that was filled with elementary school grade sarcastic remarks by the way. It was an enjoyable read.

the thing is most, if not all, comic book characters change a lot depending on who's drawing them, most superheroes will have had hundreds of artists over the years.
and the character will look different with each one.
i'd have thought the guys acting talent would a better reason for choosing him, or not, rather than physical resemblence.

Strange isn't exactly a household name, he certainly doesn't have the same iconic status as Wolverine.

one of Wolverine's most recognised physical features is his size, he's short, especially compared to all the other statuesque superheroes.
he's short and stocky, and he has huge sideburns.

they made the X-Men film, and they went with the guy that was six foot two.
looks nothing like wolverine.

yet now, just about everybody agrees he's perfect for the role.

that's why i think it's wrong to say an actor should not be given a chance at playing the part because they don't look exactly like the comic book version, and i doubt there is even a definitive comic book version, the character will look different for each artist who draws him.

i can see where you're coming from with the age, but maybe they want a younger version of Doctor Strange, if it's going to be an origin story i can see why they might want a younger actor.

i gotta say, i'm kinda disappointed in myself though, i was at least aiming for high school level sarcasm. ^_^

anyway, i'm sure whoever they pick will be the best actor for the part, they've done a brilliant job so far.

and hey, Vin Diesel's been visiting marvel for something.
so Levitt might not actually be the worst choice. ^_^

@blacktric do you believe hobbits are real?

@Calis

I thought of that as well at first but then figured, that this could be his earlier years and there's nothing that a little movie magic can't do to age him a few years beyond where he is.

thorstein3928d ago

Wha-? Use special effects? To make a character taller on screen? How? Has anyone ever done that before? Is it even possible?

/sarcasm

WitWolfy3928d ago

How can they know.. IF ITS A GOD DAMNED RUMOR!?!?!

TwistedMetal3928d ago

he is too young and to short although they could give him some extra inches by giving him some high heel boots or something. dr strange needs to be older and have that voice and feel of someone or something from the watchmen movie. I also don't think this dude can act the part.
