Is J.J. Abrams the Right Man for Star Wars: Episode VII?

Clickonline writes: "And doesn’t it seem a bit insane to grant one man control over two of the biggest franchises in genre cinema? Not only that, but two universes which have long existed by contrast to each other, by people extolling their rivalry as ‘Trekkies’ or Star Wars fans. Do we really want a poster in 2015 which states ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – from the director of Star Trek…?’"

I think a better person could have been chosen. One that is less associated with big franchises and big names, just like how the Bond franchise has done along with the Harry Potter franchise.

I think he's a great choice.
Seeing how well he handled the star trek reboot, I think star wars is safe in his hands.

I think he is a bit over-rated but he'll do a better job than the prequels.

It all depends which direction he goes in and if he is doing his story or what Warner wants him to do.

I find it funny, before all this started people were going "Oh his Star Trek is so amazing!!!" Then he gets attached to Star Wars and its "he's over rated" or "Star Trek can quit being Star Wars now."

lol

I enjoyed Star Trek, though never watched it before the movie. But I've found him over-rated since Cloverfield.

That said, I think he'll do a good enough job at the very least with Star Wars.

I wasn't trying to attack you by the way lol. I'm reading the over rated comment everywhere.

I personally love Cloverfield, it was more of an experience than anything as I followed the viral marketing for months.

Oh yeah I know. I find a lot of people have said he is over-rated and ruined (ruining) Star Trek but I don't have a point of reference to compare for that.
