Bob Hoskins Retiring From Acting Following Parkinson's Disease Diagnosis

69-year-old actor Bob Hoskins announced today he is retiring from acting after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Here is the statement from his agent:

"Bob Hoskins wishes to announce that he will be retiring from acting, following his diagnosis of Parkinson's disease last autumn. He wishes to thank all the great and brilliant people he has worked with over the years, and all of his fans who have supported him during a wonderful career. Bob is now looking forward to his retirement with his family, and would greatly appreciate that his privacy be respected at this time."

Hoskins' career included roles in films such as Who Framed Roger Rabitt, Hook, The Long Good Friday and Mona Lisa. He last appeared in Snow White and the Huntsman.

'Snow White and the Huntsman': Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones Cast as Dwarfs

There are no small parts in Hollywood. But these days there are plenty of dwarf roles to go around.

Universal is ramping up its casting of the warrior dwarfs in its high-profile Snow White and the Huntsman action adventure movie, with Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins and Toby Jones in negotiations to board the movie.

Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes) and Steven Graham are in negotiations to play dwarves in the film as well.

Love Eddie Izzard so I'm sure he'll make a good Dwarf but I don't know about the others. I'm still up in the air about this whole thing. I know I'll probably be surprised at the results when it finally comes out but we'll see.
