Is Proto-Goblin The New 'Spider-Man' Reboot Villain?

MTV - Just a little while ago, news hit the wire that "Slumdog Millionaire" actor Irrfan Khan was cast as a second villain in Marc Webb's "Spider-Man" reboot. The character's name was listed as "Van Atter," leaving many comic fans to ask, "Who?"

Well, it looks like we might have an answer to that question in the form of late-1990s character Nels Van Adder, an early test subject for one of Norman Osborn's projects who mutated into a creature called "Proto-Goblin." The character's one and only appearance can be found in 1997's "Peter Parker, Spider-Man" #1, in a story written by Howard Mackie and titled "The Macabre Mystery Of The Proto-Goblin."

Hmmmm, I don't think that would be such a cool villain out of all of the other cool, more well known villains in the Spider man universe, Why would they choose this.

I guess it's possible. I mean they are bringing in Parker's parents who were hardly in the comics, so why not bring in a villain no one will recognize.

I'm starting to grow worried about the plot. Overall, I'm digging the cast, but the tidbits of the story are starting to scare me.

I would hope they'd go with a more well-known villain for the reboot, in order to bringin more people. I do like the idea of two villains though. If done right it works out incredibly well.

Ya, two villains worked out in The Warrior's Way, so it might be good. It was utter failure in Spider-Man 3 though. I actually would like to see Proto-Goblin in this, two monstrous villains would provide some awesome brute force battles.

Well it's been working in the latest Batman movies too. It can be done, they just have to be careful with it.

Civil War (2024) Movie Review

In a movie that largely sidesteps what the war is about, “Civil War” puts us in the point of view of journalists who make it clear there are no heroes in war, just dead bodies.
