‘Justified’ Season 3, Episode 5: ‘Thick as Mud’ Recap

Screen Rant:
Raylan and Rachel hunt for Dewey Crowe after he commits a bizarrely motivated crime spree. Meanwhile, Boyd and Quarles finally make one another’s acquaintance in ‘Justified’ episode 4: ‘Thick as Mud.’

At first it was a little bewildering to think that Justified was venturing into the well-trodden territory of organ harvesting – that being normally reserved for urban legends and the like. But ‘Thick as Mud’ manages to craft an incredibly well-rounded and entertaining episode from a notion that not only skewers lesser storytelling efforts on the macabre subject, but also finds time to scatter an idea or two on the topic of Quarles vs. Boyd Crowder.

I know this is part of the story but can you make these guys any dumber? This was so funny and so awful at the same time.

The season is coming along just as I expected though and now I'm beginning to see what's going to happen. They've got the two idiots that escaped back to prison now. The guard is dead and the other two that were doing the organ thing...now we have to let it play out between Boyd and the new guy in town.

Dewey was priceless in this episode. His line about having 4 kidneys sums up his character perfectly. Also foretelling was the lack of searching Quarles arm before his and Crowders face to face. Season is coming along nicely. My only question is did Raylan's ex skip town on him at the end of the episode?? I'm guessing that was the gist but not 100% sure.

Yes, I think she did...I noticed when he got home the first time all the boxes in the entry way and when he got home at the end they weren't there anymore. She's gone but who knows where.

I'm sure before this season is over he'll be getting her back or something will come of the situation.

Dewey was hysterical.
