Bone-idle writes "Chick flicks are a mystery to most guys. Time and time again, I’ve had the concept and appeal of such films explained to me, but I just don’t understand them. At times, I wonder if this is how some (not all) girls may feel about action films. Both these genres are quite gender specific and, odds are, if you’re a guy going to see this film, it’s probably because your girlfriend is making you. (Or because it’s a press screening, and sometimes sacrifices have to be made in this job…). And also, this is a Nicolas Sparks movie which, I’m told, is the chick flick equivalent of Arnold Schwarzenegger movies from the 80s. But whatever, let’s see if we can give an adequate account of how it holds up for all audiences. *gulp* Here we go…"
So with the new Nicholas Sparks Novel/Movie adaptation “The Best of Me” coming it out we started to wonder what were the best movies that have been adapted from the proclaimed authors work.
Nicholas of Movies Hate You Too writes:
All of this week’s new Blu-ray releases are semi successful films. None were monster hits but they all did respectably well including Tom Cruise’s ‘Super Detective’ film, a horror film where the villain bears a creepy resemblance to “Corky” Thatcher, and another Nicholas Sparks’ adaptation that’s is sure to drive men to drink. Catalog titles include one of the greatest prison escape films ever made, one of Richard Gere’s best, an adorable pig’s trip to the city, and one of Robin Williams last good films. Overall it’s not a great week but we’ve certainly survived worse.
