I've never been less interested in a Johnny Depp movie than this. It just seemed so bland in the trailers.

Depp, despite how miscast he is, is not the problem with this movie. It is what they built around him.

Depp is a has-been. Or never-was, really, he was good in Blow, but all his other characters seems needlessly theatrical and contrived in their "eccentricity".
